Frequently Asked Questions

Can I modify the size or design of a standard sauna model?

Yes, you can customize the size, shape, glazing features, and materials of your sauna. There are no limitations, and we can collaborate to create a sauna that meets your specific requirements.

Can I design a sauna from scratch with Brookstone Nordic Saunas?

Absolutely. You can create a custom sauna with guidance and inspiration from our expert team.

How long will my Brookstone Nordic Sauna last?

Our saunas are built with durable, rot-resistant materials. Longevity depends on the sauna’s location, maintenance, and usage, but we expect them to last well over twenty years.

Is the timber used in Brookstone Nordic Saunas sustainably sourced?

Yes, all our timber is sourced from a sustainably managed forest near our workshop.

Do I need to treat the wood?

The external wood arrives treated or painted and will need to be treated every 3-4 years. If you prefer the natural silvering effect of aging timber, no treatment is necessary. Internally, the benches, floor, and backrests should not be treated with anything.

What is the difference in heat-up times between wood-fired and electric-heated saunas?

Electric-heated saunas generally heat up faster than wood-fired ones. For instance, our outdoor A4 model sauna heated by an electric stove takes about 50-60 minutes to reach 180°F on a cold day, while a wood-fired stove takes about 60-70 minutes to reach the same temperature.

How do I clean my Brookstone Nordic Sauna?

We recommend using a mild hand soap diluted in warm water to clean these surfaces, working from top to bottom. The glass can be cleaned with warm soapy water and dried with a squeegee or newspaper. Stronger soaps or harsh chemicals should be avoided.

Will the Brookstone Nordic Saunas team assist with delivery and installation?

Yes, our team is involved in every step, from the initial site visit to planning, design, delivery, and installation. We ensure everything is done accurately and to your satisfaction.

How is the sauna delivered?

We usually construct the sauna in our workshop, and transport it fully assembled on a flatbed trailer. If site access does not allow for delivery of a fully built sauna, we can assemble it on-site using a mobile workshop.

What groundwork is required for sauna installation?

The foundation requirements vary based on the sauna’s size and site conditions. We provide a detailed ground preparation and services plan, including foundation specifications and necessary services (e.g., electrical feed), for your local contractor to follow.

What access is needed for sauna installation?

While vehicle access close to the sauna site is helpful, it’s not essential.  It can be lifted over obstacles such as fences, walls, outbuildings, and even houses with appropriate lifting equipment. We recommend sending details, photos, or videos of the site access and sauna location before ordering to advise on the best installation methods and any potential additional costs.

Can I get a Brookstone Nordic Sauna without vehicle access near the site?

Yes, if lifting the fully built sauna into place is not possible, we offer an on-site build service. This involves setting up a mobile workshop to build the sauna from scratch at your location. This option can significantly increase costs, so we recommend contacting our team for a detailed quotation.

How much does a Brookstone Nordic Sauna cost?

The cost varies based on size and design. Standard designs range from $7,000 to $20,000, while custom saunas can range from $12,000 to $30,000.

What is the payment plan for a Brookstone Nordic Sauna order?

We require a 20% payment to book your sauna build into our schedule and cover initial design work. Six to eight weeks before starting the build, we finalize your order and ask for a 50% payment. The remaining costs are due upon build completion. Delivery and installation costs are payable after installation. For more details, please contact us.

Why are Brookstone Nordic Saunas more expensive than kit or barrel saunas?

Our saunas are handcrafted with high-quality materials by skilled local craftsman and engineered to perform efficiently in various climates. Unlike barrel saunas, which may struggle in areas with less snowfall, our saunas feature large windows for natural views and are designed for an exceptional experience.

What are the running costs for wood-fired and electric stoves?

Our saunas are well insulated to minimize heat-up times and running costs. Running costs for electric saunas can be calculated by multiplying the electricity unit cost by the stove’s kW output. Once the sauna reaches the desired temperature, the running costs decrease as it runs on a thermostat. The running costs of a wood-fired stove depend on the price of firewood.

Do you offer a warranty for Brookstone Nordic Saunas?

We provide a manufacturer’s warranty for wood-burning stoves, a warranty for electric stoves, and  warranty for sauna control systems.
